If your cup is small, a little bit of salt will make the water salty. If your heart is small, then a little bit of pain can make you suffer. Your heart must be large.

Thay and the monastics spent five days in Nagpur, the nerve center of the Buddhist revival in India. Nagpur could one day be as important as Sarnath.
On 14 October 1956, Baba Sahep Ambedkar, the visionary socio-Political Leader of the Dalits* took a historic step. He converted to Buddhism with 4,00,000 Dalits and rolled the waves of Buddhism’s return to India. This happened at Diksha Bhoomi at Nagpur.
The day of Shakyamuni Buddha’s first ever teaching at Sarnath, is known as the Dhammachakra Pravartan Din, the day of Setting the Wheel of Dhamma in Motion.

Young Buddhists and non-Buddhists for a Healthy and Compassionate Society |
Buddhism needs to be recognized as a source of wisdom, a long tradition of the practice of understanding and love and not just of devotion. The spirit of the Dharma is very close to the spirit of Science; both help us cultivate an open and non-discriminating mind. You can join the Wake Up Movement as a Christian, a Jew, a Muslim, an agnostic or an atheist. The practice of maitri, of loving kindness, the practice of sisterhood and brotherhood, is at the foundation of the Dharma.

Join Thay in India, October 20-29, 2008
on the Path of Awakening
Mindfulness in Education programme
Thay Nhat Hanh’s trip to India is the fruit of many years of preparation by our friends Shantum, Gitu and a number of concerned social workers, leaders, educators, businesspeople and intellectuals in India. They wish to bring Thay’s wisdom, gentleness and depth, as well as the Buddha’s message of awakening, back to India. At his advanced age, this could be his last trip to India. We want to address the actual situation of India, sharing the message of transformation and healing with the rich and powerful as well with the lowest of the low. There will be a Dharma talk to approximately 300 000 Dalits (former ‘untouchables’) who are now Buddhists in Nagpur.
The theme of his visit is ‘Peace in Oneself...Peace in the World’ through ‘Mindfulness in Education’.
